I am a MCGP member and I am writing to ask you to post the attached picture which shows a mystery WW II clandestine radio. I scanned it from a book on Polish parachute jumpers trained by SOE during WW II and airdropped in occupied Poland. The pix shows Lt. Mieczyslaw Kwarcinski (covername Ziut, and Leszcz) during the summer of 1944 in Central Poland, and notes that the type of the radio remains unknown. Can you help? Jan Mystery Solved!!! The Pix shows Lt. Mierczyslaw Kwarcinski during summer 1944. The radio is not a clandestine type, it is a little german marine station, called: HA 5 K 39 and build by HAGENUK, in the german town Kiel. Ha mean Hagenuk and 5 mean 5 Watt output and K mean Kurzwelle (shortwave) and 39 is the year 1939, were the set first go into service. This little radio use a vibrator power supply for 12 V battery or 110/220 Volt AC. The frequency range was 2.5 to 5 MHz. The receiver is a TFT and the transmitter uses 3 Tubes and is for CW and AM. Please search in the net for ha5k39, and You will find a lot of information. 73's Guenter, DJ8CY/AC6YU Thanks Guenter! Ralph W4XE.
